Formatting Guide

Introduction

The Rumiorb is designed to make uploading videos simple and effortless. To ensure your videos look and sound their best, we’ve put together a quick guide on how to prepare your files before uploading. Don’t worry - the process is straightforward, and with just a few small steps, your videos will be ready to play beautifully every time.

Please note that while the Rumiorb is designed for videos, its automatic playback feature allows for photos with just a little more setup!

Basic File Requirements

To ensure the best experience, we recommend that videos uploaded to the Rumiorb follow these guidelines: Firstly, videos should be in MP4 format with the H.264 video codec. We’ve found that a resolution of 800x800 works best, though other resolutions may also be compatible. Secondly, the video’s audio should be in MP3 format. If you’re unsure how to convert your videos to these settings, the next section will walk you through the software our team uses to achieve the best results.

What We Use

Firstly, please note that we are not sponsored by or affiliated with any of the software we recommend. Capcut (Desktop App)

Many users are familiar with capcut, and the process to format a video in capcut is quick and easy. Our team regularly does it in under 30 seconds! To make it just as simple for you, we’ve broken it down into seven easy steps:

  1. Open Capcut and create a project
  2. Click on the import button in the upper left corner and select your video (or photo)
  3. Drag your selected video into the timeline and click on any empty grey area to bring up the details tab
  4. Set the resolution to custom, set it to 800x800, and click save. Other resolutions can work, but we find this one gives the best result.
  5. Click on your video and scale it to fit the new aspect ratio if needed
  6. When you're happy with the result, navigate to the top left corner, and select Menu->File->Export
  7. Ensure that the Codec is set to H.264, the Format is set to MP4, and Audio is set to MP3, then click export.
